Hello Everyone,
I hope you enjoyed my last post about my fish. So a few weeks ago I unsubscribed from World of Warcraft. If you have been following gaming news casters such as Yongyeah or Jimquesition then you will know about the whole debacle with the two casters and pro hearthstone player Blizzchung. For those who haven’t heard about this issue. Blizzchung during an interview at the pro hearthstone championships proclaimed “liberate Hong Kong”. This resulted in an initial year ban, firing of the two casters, and loss of his prize money. This has since been reduced to six months and he I believe recieved his prize money or some of it. Well the whole scandle didn’t sit right with me and I feel although he should not have made a political statement during that broadcast the punishment was extremely harsh. A warning would have been better and not a ban which if you are a pro esports player would result in a significant loss of income effectively ending Blizzchungs career.
Fast forward to a few weeks later Blizzard has gotten Twitch accounts banned for speaking out in support of Hong Kong. Thus, started my decline in motivation to play World of Warcraft. It was a hard decision to make as I love the game. I play a number of different characters but my main is a Holy Priest for those interested. I was one of my guilds raid healers and I still have friends on the game. I still have a fondness for the game but unless Blizzard does something substantial besides a weak apology I probably will not be coming back.
There is also the issue of Diablo 4 being monetized the crap out of. Over all, Blizzard has made it clear that they only care about the bottom line and not their customers or human rights.
I initially started with not streaming Blizzard games and now I have officially moved away from Blizzard games altogether by playing Guild Wars 2. There is no subscription fee and the mechanics are enjoyable. It is a very dynamic game which I am really enjoying. I hope you all enjoyed my ramblings. Take Care and Good Health.
